The earthquake, which measured 7.1 on the Richter scale, caused widespread structural damage in both urban and rural areas. Homes, schools, and public buildings were severely affected, leaving thousands displaced. In addition, landslides and damaged roads have hampered rescue and relief operations.

Local authorities have mobilized emergency services, including police, fire brigades, and medical teams, to assist victims and provide urgent care. Temporary shelters have been set up to house displaced residents, and relief supplies such as food, water, and medical aid are being distributed.

International aid organizations have also joined the response, sending search-and-rescue teams and relief supplies. The Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is coordinating with both local and international partners to ensure effective disaster management.

Officials warned residents to remain cautious, citing aftershocks and unstable structures. Moreover, schools and businesses in some areas remain closed while damage assessments are underway.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed condolences to the victims’ families and promised swift government support for reconstruction and recovery. The government is urging citizens to cooperate with rescue efforts and adhere to safety guidelines.

In conclusion, while the Philippines continues its rescue and recovery operations, authorities emphasize that coordinated efforts are crucial to saving lives and minimizing further damage. The situation remains critical as relief teams work around the clock.
